AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III Version 4.3 text messaging icon

Hello,

So I have recently upgraded my software to version 4.3 from I believe 4.1.2. With the old software, I loved how text message notifications appeared as a circle on the lock screen with the current number of unread texts. However, with the new software, the only options seem to be having that rectangle at the top of the screen with the person's name and part of his or her message or having it be listed as "new message" at the very top of the drop down screen and does not show who texted you until you open the message. Is there any way to go back to the old way of notifications? I wanted to go back to the old software completely but read that this can "brick" AT&T Samsung phones. However, if I was able to get this one feature back, I think I would be pretty okay with the new software. Any help or insight is appreciated!!

You would be limited to trying to find an app that would mimic the old way. But, yes, if you tried to downgrade OS versions to 4.1, you would brick the device.
