Voicemail notification icon stuck

How do I clear the voicemail notification icon when there are no voicemails. I have Verizon carrier and it is a Galaxy S4.

I would try settings>apps>swipe over to all apps>scroll down to voice mail>click clear cache. See if that helps.

I have disabled my voice mail service with the carier, but the voice mail icon doesn't go away. The voice mail icon is there for about 4 months... my cellphone is a xperia z1. How do I make it disapear?

I have the same icon and I've tried lots of things in the settings and nothing worked. The only way is activating your voicemail service, calling it and disable after that. Mine is a paid service so I got used to the icon.

For other reasons I wiped the cache partition a couple of days ago and the icon is still there. The app for the voicemail is the phone and it doesn't use the cache (at least in my phone).

To see the app, long press on the notification and tap app info. Not sure but I think that clearing the phone data is not a good idea.
