Country Settings

[AC Question]

When I just received my Samsung galaxy s4 I was in the U.S. and configured it there. I'm now in another country and whenever I add a new number to my contacts the phone automatically adds a New York area code to the number. I figure this is because I was in New York at the time of initial set up so does anyone know how to change the phone's country settings?? If this problem isn't because of the country settings then does anyone know what the problem is?? Please help. Thanks in advance
