Adding a widget programmatically ?

Is there a way to programmatically add a custom widget to the home screen or need to speak to a vendor ?

Widgets either come with apps, or are standalone widgets that you install. You can't make any old thing into a widget. So yes, you'd have to email the developer of an app if you wanted them to work on a widget.

Sorry for the mis-understanding.

I meant if you are an android developer and want to preload widget of your app. on the device's homescreen like the calendar do we have to discuss this option with the vendor or is there another way ?
