Two nights in a row received a virus warning pop up on my Galaxy S4

I was browsing on Twitter both times:

1st time - it popped up with a choice to run a scan. Quickly shut down and it went away. Then I went online, learned it was a scam (I hope) and installed Lookout.

2nd time last night, almost as the same time as the night before, also looking at Twitter. This time I hit the back button - different versions of the message appeared each time. THEN, I got a message saying something about the pictures I was about to see were women in my neighborhood. Hit back again and porn - lots of porn - started showing up.

Shutdown and it went away. Checked my apps - I haven't installed anything lately and definitely nothing shady. Also checked lookout - no alerts there.

Is this just an ad or does my phone really have a virus?

Thanks

It could still be just a scare tactic to get you to click something. Since Twitter is the culprit, see if it happens with any other app.

Another option would be to uninstall or disable Twitter and use your browser instead.

Thanks for the reply - I checked - no files that showed I was downloading something. It was odd - when it hit my screen I just hit the back button and another version of the same message appeared. Hit back again and a different warning showed up mentioning the tapsnake virus. Once again went back and that's when the porn started. Then I just closed down the window and it disappeared.

It's interesting I am on that phone all day and it only popped up the same time both nights. Went on Twitter last night to see if would happen again and nothing. If it happens again I will take your suggestion. Thanks for your help.
