Galaxy S3 issues

[AC Question]

i get an s3 off ebay which needed a new screen i have sorted this out but i now have a bigger problem my phone wont update as status is modified how do i change it, it also says that i haev no signal and can nether find a network i think this is because the phones imie has gone wierd it starts with 00 and is not the same as the sticker also my serial number is 00000000

Welcome to Android Central! Unfortunately, it sounds like you have a bad phone. You can check with your wireless carrier to see if the IMEI has been blacklisted (which means it was probably stolen at some point). The serial number of a bunch of zeros just screams out that the phone has been heavily tampered with. Can you contact the eBay seller? There should be some kind of buyer protection with eBay. You may also want to notify eBay of some suspicion that the seller was selling a possibly stolen item.
