I live in Las Vegas and have a sports betting account the works on Android phones and tablets, but not this one. Two books in town have the same issue. When you go to finalize your bets you will get some sort of location error and you cannot get your bets in.

If I use my wife's Verizon Android phone there is no problem. Both sports books said it is a problem specific to the Verizon tablets that there is no way to turn off the LTE and that is the issue.

    Any answers to this issue????

    Thanks so much!

Welcome to Android Central! Are you trying to turn off mobile data completely, or are you asking how to turn off LTE and force 3G?

Typically, you can turn off mobile data by going to Settings>Wireless & Networks>More>Mobile Networks, and uncheck the mobile data setting there. It's much easier to use a mobile data toggle widget, of which there are many in the Play Store. Try this one: Data Enabler Widget

I did not try the widget but did the other option.
This did not work. I still got the message:

Alert: Location Service Error: An error has occurred while verifying gaming permissions. Insufficient permissions for sports wagers.

I am not trying to force 3G. I was told that the problem is that there is no way to "turn off" LTE on the Verizon tablet. This is what they said the problem is. Strange but it works fine on my wife's Verizon LG G2 phone. This issue is specific the Verizon tablet.

Perhaps you should tell us more about what you're trying to do. From what you're describing, it sounds like you may have successfully turned off mobile data, but are still getting an error message that is related more to some gambling app than to the system. Are you using some app to place a bet? Does the app require permission to use your Location Services? If so, make sure your Location Services are on in Settings>Location.

Please see my first post for what I am trying to do. The issue is not with the apps as they work perfectly fine with my wife's Verizon LG G2 phone or any Android phone or tablet except for the Verizon tablet.

Yes, I did read your first post, and I'm sorry, but I wouldn't have asked for more specifics if I understood it completely. So you have a sports betting account that doesn't work on your Ellipsis because they told you you have to turn off your LTE. You attempted to turn off mobile data on your tablet (although I am still unclear on whether or not this was successful), but the device still gave you an error message saying, "Alert: Location Service Error: An error has occurred while verifying gaming permissions. Insufficient permissions for sports wagers." So there seems to be an issue with the betting app. Can you tell us what the name of the betting app is? I am asking this because perhaps they have some kind of support site or email.

Also, allow me to ask this again: Does the app require permission to use your Location Services? If so, make sure your Location Services are on in Settings>Location.

    Thanks for your help.

OK here we go. Yes I did turn off mobile data and location services are on. These did not work. I called tech support for not only the sportsbook I am using but also for another mobile sportsbook and they both have the same issue. It is not an issue with the apps because they work fine on my wife's phone and all phones and tablets other than the Verizon tablet. Both tech supports told me that I cannot use the Verizon tablet because their sites do not support LTE and there is no way to disable LTE on the Verizon tablet. They have discuused this problem in detail with Verizon to no avail. They suggested I try a forum on the internet.

    Thanks again.

Wow, that's a real head scratcher. It puzzles me that their software would somehow be incompatible with LTE, since that is essentially the mobile data standard now. Your wife's G2 certainly has LTE as well, so one would think that if there were an LTE compatibility issue, her phone and many others would have problems as well.

I know you said you're not interested in forcing 3G, but that's all I can think of at this moment. This app might make it easier to get to that setting. https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...oggle4gforrazr

Hopefully you're able to find a solution. Good luck!

I have this tablet and also the Verizon version. Have long had battery life issues. Have even taken the damn thing apart peeled the battery out an searched the manufacturing specs on it. Ridiculous how bad the charger requirements are that i found is compared to what they gave me from Verizon. Anyway long story short its always dieing, everytime i picked it up it was dead an needed me to charge it. I restored it, tried evrything. The cell antenna was responsible for the batteries constant discharging even when turned off. My tabs not in service anymore an this causes even less charge life.*****(((( THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IS PUT IT INTO AIRPLANE MODE. YOU CAN STILL USE WIFI AND THEN IT DOESN'T KILL ITSELF SCANNING FOR A MOBILE CONNECTION EVEN IF TURNED OFF)))) *****

I just allowed Android to perform a system update on my Verizon Ellipses tablet and now I cannot turn the device off. I think there is something wrong with the power button because I also cannot take a screenshot, which isusually done by holding the power and volume button simultaneously.

Why won't my tablet turn off and is there an alternate way to shut it down without using the power button? I don't want to drain my battery and get stuck with a tablet that then won't turn on!

    Thanks so much!
