If I bought a Xiaomi Mi4 from China, could I take it back to the US, pop in my Verizon SIM card, and have it magically work?

I've read somewhere else that I'd need to manually set the APN settings to work with Verizon data and text messaging, but would that be it?

Welcome to Android Central! I think Verizon would also have to put the IMEI on their whitelist, which probably won't happen for a device direct from China. But you could easily contact Verizon and ask them. 800-922-0204, or Contact Us | Verizon Wireless
