I just bought my wife a new samsung tab S 8.4, but when I put the 64Gb memory card from my Samsung note 8 in it (card working fine in this tablet), it has trouble reading and playing the videos on the card properly. In fact I'm lucky if it plays at all and at best it freezes and usually crashes the player (I've tried the built in player and VLC). The folder system also seems to have trouble recognizing the files - like the video players, it recognizes the file names and in some cases the thumbnail picture also comes up, but only for a few files. However, if I copy one of the files directly onto the tablet memory the file works fine. So for these reasons I don't think it's the player or memory card as it works in another tablet. I suspect therefore it's either the software or hardware reading the SD card.

Has anyone come across this issue? Can you help?

    Any help greatly appreciated,

Hi, seemed to have solved this myself. I downloaded MX player and it now works - think it was a codec issue because it also now plays on the other players as well
