Motorola Droid 2 currently running API 10, how to upgrade to 11+??

I am in an Android programming class and I would like to use my Motorola Droid 2 (I know, it's an old phone) with the Eclipse Android SDK to preview my apps. However, I need to upgrade to at least API 11 to do so. How exactly would I go about doing this, and what is the latest possible API that the Droid 2 will run?
