SD card is not being used

Hi I bought an ZTE Midnight android phone. I noticed that programs are constantly running and the space is already low even though it had only been activated for several hours. Then I noticed the space in the SD card is not being used. What do I have to do to access the space in the SD card so it does not run low?

Hello. You can move most apps individually in Settings - Apps - scroll across to All (or SD Card), select app and Move to SD Card.
You can transfer other selected photos / documents / music if you have a stock file manager app. Or you can download an app like ES File Explorer.
I wonder if you are mistaking RAM usage with data storage, as Android will always have most of the available RAM storage full with running and non running apps, and runs efficiently that way. So it's unlike how Windows works, for example.
