Broken htc trying to salvage is toxic?

I found a broken htc and I'm trying to salvage it but will it release toxic chemicals

I doubt it. From where, the battery? I think you're safe as long as you don't put it on a hot surface or in the microwave or something.

Well the screen is totaled and at parts behind the glass mrsmumbles

Do you see or smell any chemicals? It sounds like a shattered screen so if you're going to handle broken glass take all the precautions you would with any broken glass.

I dissasemled my nexus 7 2012 with a cracked screen and nothing bad happened, you'll be fine.
