I recently got my son an Asus MemoPad 7, and after it crashed today, I was helping him force restart. I accidentally chose "recovery" instead of "reboot" on the menu, and now I've got the Android lying down with a red triangle. I can't figure out how to get anywhere else from there. If I force restart again, I get sent back to dead Android. I held down power and then pressed volume up to try to enter recovery mode, and that didn't do anything either.

I am familiar with Android from my phone, but don't know much about tablets. What can I do to get out of recovery mode?
