S4 - always asks me what program to open a video file....

When someone sends me a video file via What'sAPP, it always asks me what I want to use to open the video file...VLC player, MX player etc... ALWAYS

it's annoying, why can't I just chooose a default player for all videos. I looked in settings and application manager etc and nothing is there under MX PLAYER

Welcome to Android Central! When it asks you which app you want to use to open the file, there should be two options at the bottom: "Always" and "Just Once." Do you see those? So tap something like MX Player, and then tap Always. That should set MX Player as the default video player for that file format.

Yeah I've done thta many times, mroe than once, but for EVERY person that messages me on whats app, those questions keep popping up, asking me what video player to use, even though i always click ALWAYS

Try booting into Recovery Mode and wiping the cache partition, which won't erase any personal data: Reset: Samsung Galaxy S 4 | T-Mobile Support

The system cache partition holds various temporary system data. Sometimes it can interfere with normal system performance, so wiping it from time to time, if your device is acting up, may be helpful.
