I recently upgraded my phone and now have an old rooted Moto Droid X that I don't use for phone service that I would like to make only usable with WiFi. It still shows service bars with Verizon when I turn it on. I'm guessing this is for 911 emergency calls only. Is there an app that would allow me to disable phone service and 3G radios and still use WiFi and GPS? Airplane mode shuts down all radios so that doesn't work plus I would like a more permanent solution. This would help the battery last longer and keep kids from accidentally dialing 911.

After you select Airplane Mode, you should still be able to turn wi-fi back on. That has worked for all devices I've ever had.
