Android HTC One X powers off when I open Gmail

[AC Question]

The title pretty much says it all. The phone powers off when I read a specific email, I can browse through my inbox without a problem.

Has anyone else experience this problem? Any recomendations other than a restore?

Welcome to Android Central! Is it any email that you read, or only one particular one? If it's one specific email, is it suspicious at all? Any odd attachments or embedded links?

Try going to Settings>Apps>All, select Gmail, and Clear Cache/Clear Data, then Force Stop. Now open Gmail and wait for it to log back in and sync again. See if it still shuts down.
