Android Application Issue

Hello All,

I have an android application which is built in Android 2.2 environment. Application main point is to get the location from GPS and send that to server every now and then in a duration of 10 second. Along with lot many feature running in offline mode with auto syncing in using Alarm Manager.

Problem:
1. Application is running slow every time.
2. Very high battery usage.
3. UI get hanged in the new version Android Devices.
Please help me to get rid from this problem so that the app will run faster in smoother.

If i port my application to higher android version like 4.2 or 4.4 do this action will boost my application...

Secondly how i will port my application directly to higher version because the current version is very much downgraded also not having
feature like the newer one.
