New HTC one m8 flickering black screen

I bought a new HTC one m8 outright today and when i got home i proceeded to activate it myself.
I stupidly forgot to buy a sim card - the mini ones meh.
i know absolutely nothing about phones and plans and activating and stuff.
So i put in the beginning stuff and everyting- like the time, the date, connected to inernet etc.
But i don't have a expandable memory card yet.

I downloaded like 15 apps/games. When i moved an app on the screen to another position the screen flashed black for a second then back to normal. I then tried to move the app again and my screen went black again- I did this a few times.
I thought it was just something meh, but when i opened a game, the screen kept flashing black too.
Sometimes when i try to drag the top bar down the screen flashes black too.

Ugh im scared because my mum will kill me for getting a crappy phone. This phone was $780 at dicksmith.
I tried seeing if the extreme power saver was on and it was off, i also became a developer? whatever that means...

The music is fine though, i tried it.

Any way to stop the flashing? I really don't want to go back to the store.

Actually i can't send voice messages on fb- it says: 'unable to record audio' and i can't voice search on youtube

Welcome to Android Central! Sounds like something is defective. Try booting into Recovery Mode and wiping the cache partition, which won't erase any personal data: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ht...ow-reboot-into-stock-recovery-htc-one-m8.html. If that doesn't help, then you may want to bring the phone back.
