HTC One m8 Detecting headphones, but no headphones are plugged in.

My HTC One m8 for some reason is detecting headphones on the device. I see the headphones icon on the notification bar. For this reason, I can hear device sounds(ringtones, notifications, and calls) but I can't hear and media sounds(songs, googleNow, youtube). Any suggestions?

Welcome to Android Central! Is Bluetooth on? Could it be connecting to a pair of headphones lying nearby?

Have you looked inside the headphone jack with a bright flashlight to make sure there isn't any debris in there?
