is it okay to install custom rom from usb otg cable .

do i need to put the custom rom zip in internal memory only .I have inbuilt memory in htc one m7 and sd card not supported.

It depends on the ROM (actually, on how it flashes), but an external card on an OTG cable should "look" enough like an external SD card that it should work. Check with the ROM developer and see if anyone has installed that ROM from an external drive successfully.
