Why can't I receive internet notifications when my screen is turned off?

why when the screen on my device is off I do not receive notifications from internet

I wonder why when the screen on my device is off I do not receive email, messages from the chat service or anything else from the Internet. Only when I pick up the phone and turn the screen, messages arrive. Otherwise, I use wi-fi. Can I do it through my adjustment device to fix? Thank you very much. I appreciate your kindness. Do you have any data service besides WiFi? If not, you'll need to go into the Advanced Settings area for WiFi (under the 3-dot menu) and set WiFi to be always on during sleep. By default, this option is set to never have WiFi on during sleep.
