My S4 today just suddenly changed screen and said "connected to docking". But I don't have any docking station!
I turned the phone off and on again but nothing changed.
Took out the battery and when I put it back in this message appeared "Downloading, don't turn off target".
Took out the battery again and waited a few minutes this time.
Now the phone doesn't give me that "Downloading, don't turn off target" anymore, but the docking issue is still there.
Reading around on forums someone suggested to disable "NFC".
It effectively removes the "connected to docking" message, but I always had NFC on before, and it never caused this kind of problem.
    What can it be?

Welcome to Android Central! Try booting into Recovery and wiping the cache partition, which won't erase any personal data. Then turn NFC back on and see if the problem persists.
