Why does my Galaxy Note E say connected as a media device all the time?

Why does my galaxy note e say connected as a media device all the time

it says connected as a media device and below that says touch for other usb options. when I go to other options it says media device(MTP) and that box is checked. My other option is camera (PTP)

Welcome to Android Central! Which Note is it? The Note 3? I'm assuming "note e" is a typo.

When you say that it's connected as a media device all the time, do you mean that you get that notification even if it isn't plugged into your computer via USB? The MTP and PTP options are standard USB connection protocols.
