Samsung Galaxy S5 Volume Control-Texting problem

If I accidentally touch the volume control button on my Samsung Galaxy S5 when I am texting, it will access the contact I am texting (from my contact list) and call them. Is there a way to disable the volume control button being connected with my Contact List?

Try using Hangouts as your texting app. All it will do if you press the volume buttons is change the volume. (What you're seeing is what the particular texting app you're using is doing.)
