Failed attempts on fingerprint and cannot remember pin/password. What can I do?

I slept on my phone and inadvertently locked myself out of the finger scanning attempts. I got a warning message to say i had tried 15 times and now i needed to enter a password. Trouble is I have no idea what my password is. I tried my usual ones but they failed. How do I unlock my phone from here? do i have to re-set it?

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone is it, the S5? In order to set the fingerprint lock, you have to enter an alternative password, and then repeat it to make sure you typed it right. So you have no recollection of doing this? Perhaps you should bring the phone to your wireless store, and see if they can assist.
