Why am I getting the error message mobile network not available after switching out the sim card?

New mobile saying mobile network not available but not new number ... Help!

Recently purchased new mobile. Sim been swapped into new phone so should work but when I ring out phone say "mobile network not available" Why would this be. Old phone worked well.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone do you have now? Which wireless provider are you using? Have you spoken with them? Check with them to make sure the phone you have is compatible with their network. Phones are not always compatible with the network bands that a given provider uses.
