Welcome to Android Central! Are you talking about the stock Email app or the Gmail app?

With the stock Email app, I'm not sure if there's a mass delete option. If you have a lot of emails you want to get rid of, what might be easier is to remove the email account, then add it back--but this time, set the sync setting to only sync the last 1-2 days.
