how do I change where to select ringtones?

When you go to settings, go to language and input, then sounds. It did offer two different choices and asked just once or always. I hit always by accident. How do I change it back.

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Apps>All​ (or the App Manager), tap Menu, then tap Reset All App Preferences. This will clear all app defaults, but also re-enable any disabled apps.

You could try clearing just the defaults of the app on question. Let's say you selected "always" for Zedge. Then go to settings - apps - scroll down and select Zedge, then tap on "clear defaults".
