Why does my Samsung Galaxy S5 periodically come on then go off?

My wife reported that the screen on the S5 periodically comes on. I just noticed the same thing. It was sitting there, not on, but powered up and screen come on for 2-3 seconds then goes off without being touched. Does anyone know of a setting that I can disable this as it is annoying at night?

OK I am an *****. I am fairly sure it was because there was an outstanding text message that had not been read. I know there is a setting to turn off repeat notifications. I will look into that.

usually that is due to an SMS coming through. I personally hate this, but haven't found a way to turn it off in any of the latest Samsung devices I've owned.
