Why is my phone battery acting up

My phone keeps saying that the charger is being plugged in and out from time to time making it vibrate or chime. I have to disconnect the battery when I want to sleep!
It started acting up a couple of days ago when I went to charge it and it didn't register the charger at all. Then after it did it charged fully then later that day it began vibrating to say it was charging then vibrating to say the charger had been pulled out.

There could be damage to the charging port or cable/charger. Have you tried an alternate cable to see if the problem continues?
