Nexus 7 2013 shutting down at 10 to 13% battery level after kitkat 4.4.4 update

My nexus 7 2013 is shutting down at 10% to 13% battery level after kitkat 4.4.4 update. It would start only after I connect it with the charger. How do I overcome the problem?

Try a Cache Partition wipe, good practice after an update.

Consider also the possibility that the update and the battery trouble may be no more than coincidental, and that the battery may simply be failing.

You shouldn't run the battery down that low if you want maximum battery life (see Battery University - How to Prolong Lithium-based Batteries). The maximum battery life charge point is 40%-60%. Continually discharging to 10% will give you about 18-24 months (as opposed to a few years - two of mine from 2004 are still working fine).
