Whenever I turn my HTC One X on, it does the HTC screen, then goes blank. I tried letting it die then charge again, but nothing changed. I've also tried holding down the power button and the volume button (down or up), but it just turns itself off.

I did not root my phone, so I know that's not what's wrong. Also, I doubt it's a virus since I have multiple security apps (Norton, Lookout, and Malwarebytes) installed.

Welcome to Android Central! After the HTC screen, does the phone completely shut down, or is it just the screen going blank?

If you're willing to lose your data, you could try a hard reset:

It just goes blank. I'm guessing that the screen going blank like that is something akin to the blue screen of death (I don't know what it's really called) since the phone just seems to crash, but not turn off.

I'd really rather not lose the data if I can help it. Most of the pictures and videos on there I have aren't stored elsewhere, and some of them are really important to me.
