I have a Canon 7D camera and want to copy RAW files from it onto a 500Gb usb disk using a Samsung S3 phone as the controller. The phone is rooted. Is it possible? I would prefer to connect directly to the camera but willing to use a usb card reader as a last resort

I don't think it is but I could be wrong -- It would be easier to hook this up to a PC to do.

Welcome to the forums. Offhand, I wouldn't guess this is possible. Unless you can transfer the files via Bluetooth.

The camera seems to be able to print RAW images one at a time, but it doesn't seem to be able to dump all the images at once, or act as a drive so the phone can look at the images. If the camera saves its images to a removable SD card, that would probably be your best way to transfer the images to your phone, using an OTG cable and a USB adapter for the card. (They should be less than $2 each.)
