This is the third time that the top speaker has stopped working. The only fix that I have been able to determine is to completely restore phone.

With this symptom, I can only make phone calls via speakerphone as ear speaker does not work.

    Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forums. So, it's the same phone but you have reset it 3 times? I would guess a software issue. Who is your carrier?

Yes, same phone. Purchased it at release, and has happened 3 separate occasions. These occasions have been months apart, which makes it that much more frustrating.

It has to be a SW issue, but I am not having any luck determining which app may be culprit. Device works normal with headphones.

Try clearing cache in recovery.... http://forums.androidcentral.com/htc...tc-one-m8.html

About 2 hours ago, I performed a complete reset. Of course this time it did not fix the issue. I just performed your excellent guide to clear cache. No Dice... Still stuck with only one speaker working.

I am at a loss for what to do next. Maybe talk to your carrier, or HTC?

Thanks Golfdriver97. Just had a chat with HTC, recommended performing wipe data/factory reset from recovery mode. That didn't work either. HTC wanted to initiate a warranty repair. I have a service contract with Best Buy, and will be stopping in this afternoon to see what they have for options. Appreciate the help!

Hey, I am just glad you are getting a replacement device. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

    UPDATE

I believe a dirty headphone jack may have been the culprit. Long story short, my speaker came back to life while I was dealing with Best Buy on a replacement. Before I left for the store, I cleaned out the headphone jack and was shocked by how my debris was on the swab. I'm not 100% sure if this was the fix, but after cleaning the jack and performing another wipe date/factory reset the issue is resolved.

    Appreciate the help Golfdriver.
