Just bought my new Droid Turbo and discovered that the Search option does NOT read my Contacts, even though all my Contacts were stored with the Google option.

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Google Settings>Search & Now>Phone Search, and make sure Contacts is checked on there.

Or use MyDirections-Google Map ext. Once you have all your places entered, it works like a "Maps link" in contacts. You have a list of places, in alphabetical order, that you can edit, and when you pick a place and tell it to navigate, it opens Maps with that lat/lon to navigate to. It's what Maps should have as part of the app.
