Why is my Droid Turbo randomly rebooting?

AC Question

I am on my second Turbo and both of them have experienced random reboots. I tried monitoring to figure out the cause and so far I cant determine.

It started rebooting today and this time (1 time out of 20) it gave a message: "“Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped” " before rebooting. But that message has only appeared the one time. All other times it just appears to freeze and then reboot itself.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Once i had the same problem and i can say - that the mail reason of your reboots is your software. I've installed some app which cheated smth in my phone and the result - my rom was damaged so i had to ewstore all my data and os in service center. But after that probles do not leave my phone - if smth wrong with your device - it the first sign for buying a new device.

So, called verizon again. Got back on with Tier 2. They did confirm that the recent update included a fix for something similar that i reported....but not exactly the same. The update included a patch for something to do with random power cycles. My issues seems to be specific with the wifi radio and when on wifi only it randomly freezes and reboots. Anyway, tier 2 ran their diagnostics, confirmed everything looked good, and shipped me my 3rd turbo replacement. Will be testing it today. Must be something in the OS. Maybe lollipop fixes it.

Let us know what happens. It'll be interesting to see how far Motorola has fallen. They used to be the best cellphone manufacturer by so far that the fight was over which company was in 10th place - Motorola was easily in the first 9. (My V551 is still working - I use it at least once a week - and my StarTac, which is about 17 years old, would still be usable if it had a GPS - you can't register phones with no GPS any more. And that one took a 3 foot drop to blacktop and a 100 foot [at least, from what I remember] slide on a sheet of water - and has the scar to prove it if you have a good magnifying glass. A spot of pebble grain on the back is now smooth.) A phone that didn't work? That would have been a counterfeit back then - Motorola didn't make phones that didn't work.

My 3rd Turbo I received instantly rebooted when I recreated the same conditions that I have been noticing causes the issue. Connected to wifi, browse internet, check email. BAM! reboot.

Maybe I can invite the moto team into my office to see wtf is wrong? Hardware issue?

I am having a similar issue my phone just randomly reboots! I have had the phone for about a month and it happened a few times randomly but in the past day or two it has happened like ten times. I am not on wifi and now im going to need to call verizon tech support. My phone is updated to the latest update 21.44.8.en.us. This is extremely frustrating.

Same thing here. Have had Droid Turbo for about 2 weeks. Previous Droid Maxx was rebooting all time. New Turbo seemed fine until today. Has rebooted like 7 times in an hour. No error messages. No WiFi being used or sought. Knew I should have gotten the Samsung for him!

My Droid Turbo phone is fine at home - with NetGear BlackHawk router. Fine at motel - with unknown WiFi.

As soon as I drive by my client's Admin office, where they use Apple WiFi, my phone shuts down and restarts. Continues re-starting until I'm away from their WiFi.

Adding to the list of folks experiencing this.
VZW replaced my last Turbo because it was doing this.
The second Turbo lasted several months before it just began happening again, recently.
It reboots about once a day, while in my pocket with no use going on.
All of a sudden my Bluetooth might notify me I lost the connection, then I hear the power up sound.
Or if not on Bluetooth, I will hear the power up sound in my pocket.
After receiving the second Turbo I put less apps on it, and it seemed related, until lately.
I have not installed any new apps lately, so I doubt it is app related.
I will check in with VZ today and see if they act like they never hear of this again... :)

My Droid Turbo has been randomly rebooting for weeks, but only at my office. Today it rebooted 3 or 4 times, I did notice my wifi was on but i have never actually logged in to my companies wifi as a guest. Seeing others with a similar situation at there office I believe that may be it. I will test with Wifi on and off at office, as well as logging into guest network. The worst part is my phone is always on silent, but no matter what the reboot makes a loud lazer-inspired-robot-droid noise that disturbs my office.

My 64Gb turbo started this rebooting quite suddenly. Verizon T2 techs took days and days of troubleshooting, then eventually wiped my phone clean, contacts, everything, and no apps at all loaded for several days, because they claimed it was some app update causing the problem. Then after a week they finally agreed to send a replacement phone. Guess what still happens with the new phone ...reboot. And the common denominator is a recent installation of Airport Extremes and Expresses at our buildings.
VERY surprised that Motorola and the Verizon T2 techs don't know about this issue at all.. And really sucks that Motorola had taken so long to do absolutely nothing about it.
I think the symptoms and causes might go beyond the Apple Airport devices, because got it to reboot a few times under Navigation, still while no outside apps were installed.... Seems to be worse under load.

I have also had this problem with my second replacement 64Gb turbo. Same issue on both.. Did not want to go through the nightmare of Verizon support again so went to the internet.
Finally found this forum thread and this has finally correctly identified the problem as the Apple Airport Express and Extreme line and Motorola's incompatibility.
Have now run for many hours without a reboot simply by disabling the phone's Wi-Fi when near an Airport with my Turbo. Enable the Turbo Wi-Fi near an Apple Airport and a reboot will happen, at random. Using Wi-Fi with other modems has NO problem. Completely repeatable.
Will be contacting Verizon to see my options. Looks like a different model phone is the only way to correct it. Motorola has not.
Bottom line: TURN OFF WI-FI and the Turbo reboots will stop. There's likely an Airport modem nearby.
It's really shocking that Verizon tier 2 techs know nothing about this, and that Motorola has not addressed it yet. Nor warned the customers. Have a Samsung phone for work issues, it runs FINE in exactly the same environment.

Guys, I am sitting at the Verizon store waiting for them to open right now so I can throw my shatter proof turbo 2 on the counter and get a new phone. Not even sbur what phone I will get but this turbo 2 MUST GO. This reboot loop is a joke, I have tried everything to correct. There is a software issue for sure and moto, I am.sure, is aware of it. They should have never released this phone since they had similar issues with turbo and maxx.
It's a shame because I am diehard moto but today is the day we go either Samsung.
I sincerely hope for those of you will to hang on for a patch get one soon because it is quite insulting of moto to let this blow in the breeze without at least confirming there is an issue.
