Why is the lightning bolt in my batter on when it's not plugged in?

my samsung 8.9 tablet was working

then after i unplugged it the lighting bolt stayed on the battery but it wasn't plugged in and now its off. since you can turn them on while charging what do i do

Welcome to Android Central! So are you saying you can't power the tablet on now? A device that's charging can be powered on, so that shouldn't matter.
