I can't hear people talk when I call them but they can hear me, what gives?

It works with Bluetooth and Headphones. But with the device to my face I cannot hear it ringing people when I'm calling them and I don't hear them talking to me or its so fait that if they scream I might be able to hear it. I've pulled SIM, rebooted device, pulled battery, erased the cache, basically everything but a hard reset. The phone is exactly 14 days old and is a Samsung Alpha

Welcome to Android Central! Don't waste any more time and bring it back for an exchange. It isn't worth trying to figure this out, because if you wait too long, your return window might close, and then you'll have to deal with Samsung directly.
