Hi everyone. My first post here hope I'm in the right section for this . .. I have a Droid RAZR and an unlimited data Verizon plan along with Foxfi. I have a problem where I my phone constantly drops signal while and only while tethered. I have android 4.1.2 .... this is my fourth RAZR I've owned. Due to me needing my phone at work and for internet (no high speed where I live) I tend to break them. I don't want to get a new fancy phone because 1) I'll probably break it. 2) I got a slightly newer phone and had to trade it to someone because I couldn't get foxfi to work on it even while rooted.
The phone looses all signal whether I have 1 or full bar 4g. Areas doesn't matter. I could be here in the boonies or in downtown Houston. The phone doesn't heat up. I've reset it. And the past 4 droid rarz I've had, have had the problem to varying degrees. The one I own now being the worst. They've all had android 4.1.2

I owned one a long time ago that didn't have the problem at all and if I remember right it had another version of android. Is there any way to roll back to another version? Or could I upgrade using a costume ROM without getting the newer version firmware? Since it blocks WiFi tethering without paying?

I'm very sorry for the huge wall of text and I hope I came across somewhat clearly. This phone is my only source of internet and its driving me up a wall to constantly be loosing sinal :( I hope someone can point me in the right direction . Thank you so much.

Verizon doesn't normally allow tethering unless you have a tethering plan (which means no unlimited data). If you tether, they drop your signal.

So you choose - unlimited data or pay more for tethering.
