On my S2 when I clicked on an mp3 I could choose from the popup whether to play it or download it.

My S4 only gives me play options, there is no option to download the file to my phone (for me to play later).

This has been frustrating me for a month and searches online only show how to reset default applications. I don't have a default set but there is just no download option in the 'complete action using' dialog. Please help.

That depends on a number of things, including which browser you're using. You're not limited to the one that came with the phone. Install one with a download option.

I have the same complete action using options regardless of which browser I use.

I have found a fix though - I had to download a 'download manager'. This app now appears as an option when I click an mp3 link. I just find it a terrible user experience the ability to download a file to the phone isn't included in the out the box setup. Adding the poor memory and the awful camera the S4 has my Samsung brand loyalty has gone out the window :-)

It's not Samsung if you don't get the option in Chrome - Google wrote that.

Maybe if you can post a link you're having a problem with, I can give you more help. I can download mp3s from some sites I've tried.
