You should install Dropbox. It's much easier to share photos between multiple devices, albeit its space is much more limited. I recommend you transfer them from one phone to the other, and then delete them to transfer the remaining ones.

I use Google photos to back up all my pics and its pretty easy. When you get your s5, google photos will automatically be installed, open the app for the first time and sign in and you'll be able to access all your old photos. If you need to have them on your Samsung gallery app you can download them from the app direct to the phone
