Display problems

Good mornig.

I have a Samsung s4 mini I9195. Last week I start having problems with the display. Every now and then it starts changing colours (e.g. the background divides into two colurs brown and grey, the letters become white, the photos become like with strange colours) and the display starts flickering. This lasts for a couple of minutes then it stops again. Sometimes it happens more than once a day and sometimes it doesn't happen for a day.

Can you tell me what could be the problem or how can I solve this? I have bought the phone only 10months ago.

Thanks and regards,
Anthony Bugeja.

Re: Display problems

Welcome to Android Central! I'd guess that the screen is faulty, and might fail some time soon. While your phone is still under warranty, I suggest contacting Samsung and inquiring about warranty repair or replacement.

Re: Display problems

B. Diddy,
Thanks a lot for your reply. Can you kindly me send me the link where I can contact Samsung directly ? Because every time I tried to do so I always ended up here in this Forum and I think I have to contact directly Samsung.
Thanks again for your assistance.
Regards,
Anthony.

Re: Display problems

Hmm, that's a good question. The Samsung Global Support site doesn't list Malta. You could try the Italian site, since that's geographically the closest, but I don't know if the language barrier is an issue: SUPPORTO | SAMSUNG Italia. It's English in Malta, right?

Maybe you could try Samsung UK support: Support | SAMSUNG UK

Re: Display problems

Or you could try your carrier.

(BTW, a loose cable connection between the screen and the motherboard could also cause that problem, and once th phone is open it's a trivial fix. But dropping the phone or freezing it could damage the screen too.)

Re: Display problems

Good afternoon,

Yes in Malta we speak English as well. I will try to contact Italy .... however I can honestly say that a large percent of Maltese people do have Samsung mobile and it would be nice that we are also included in the Samsung Global Support site obviously with English language as Maltese language is very difficult :)

Thanks and regards,
Anthony Bugeja.

Re: Display problems

Good afternoon Rukbat,

Thanks for your reply. I do appreciate.
Honestly I can assure you I never dropped my phone / freezed my phone. However please can you explain to me what's 'trivial fix' please? And I have to take the mobile for repair or I can solve it on my own?

Thanks again.
Anthony.

Re: Display problems

If the connector is loose, pushing it back on and pushing the locking lever is trivial - it's as difficult as pushing a piece of paper 5cm across a desk. The opposite of difficult. (Opening and closing the phone is a bit of labor, though, and takes someone with at least a little experience. That's what you'd be paying for if it's a loose cable.) Unless you've worked on cellphones before, taking them apart, I'd take it to whomever Samsung tells you to take it to. Usually when inexperienced people try taking their phones apart, it ends up costing a lot more to fix the problems they cause than it would have cost to fix the original problem.

Also, if you carry the phone in your pocket and ever leaned against something so that the screen had pressure on it, that could cause the problems you're describing. (I see people putting cellphones in back pockets all the time, not realizing that they can damage the phone that way.)

Re: Display problems

Good morning Rukbat,

Thanks a lot for your reply. I suppose I have to take it for repair then as I really don't know how these things of opening mobile phones works :)

However, for sure I never leaned on my phone becuase the phone is either in my bag or in my side pockets not the back one for sure.

But thanks a lot for your concern,
Best regards,

Anthony .
