What happened to my photos?

When I select photos from any of my albums the picture I selected is not the picture that is displayed. I click the photo and a different group of photos are displayed. It even happens when I share a picture via text, a different picture is sent.

Welcome to the forums. ☺

Try Settings, Apps, swipe to All, scroll to Gallery (assuming that that is the app you are using), open, and select Clear Cache. If that doesn't do it, do the same, except this time select Clear Data instead. Neither procedure will cause a permanent loss of photos.
Also, do you have an SD card in your device? If corrupt, it may be causing trouble.

Thanks for your reply belodion.
I tried the suggestions but was unsuccessful. I did figure it out though. I removed the SD card and looked at the photos on my laptop. I was able to see a duplicate image with copied as the file name. I removed it and reinserted the SD card. The images were all there and everything worked as expected.
