Did something happen to Google Maps recently, or is it just me?

Hi,

I have been having major problems with Google Maps on a Samsung Galaxy S3. Today my location would not update on Google Maps despite me having a GPS lock per GPS Essentials.

While moving (maybe 15 minutes) I stopped the app and restarted it. I kept watching the screen but never received a lock - my position just bounced around the map from time to time and no instructions were provided.

Is anyone else having issues similar to this or is it just me?

My phone recently updated to Android 4.4.2 but I had issues like this a few times before that (and, wouldn't you know it, it is almost always when I am in a city that I have not been to before - always USA and always with AT&T data coverage, however).

I would try clearing the cache on the Google Maps app to see if that helps. If it doesn't I would uninstall / re-install the app. It is possible that once the app updated it bugged during install and that is why it is acting very wonky for you.

Are other GPS apps able to locate you? This will help to narrow down the issue to see if it is the phone or the app.

Thanks Ambassador. I have followed your advice and will report back if there are any more issues.

Other apps have been able to locate me without issue.
