Why isn't my phone accepting all texts from my contacts?

My phone is not accepting all texts from my contacts.

I've had a Samsung galaxy s3 for about 3 weeks. I'm not receiving texts from a few of my contacts. I can sent them texts & call them & receive calls from them. I called Samsung, they didn't know what to do. Thanks!

Were you on an iPhone before? Are your contacts on iPhones?

Then they have to send you at least one text each marked SMS. There's no iMessage in Android, and SMS and iMessage aren't compatible. (Apple claims to be working on the problem, but the sun will stop shining some day too - probably before Apple puts any effort into fixing the problem.)
