Why does Netflix lag when using MHL to HDMI from phone to TV?

Netflix lags when using MHL to HDMI from phone to TV.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Mega and I recently purchased an HDMI adapter to view Netflix on my television. Unfortunately, when I plug it in, the video lags on the television, the audio does not. When I unplug it, my phone speeds back up to the audio and no longer lags. This doesn't happen on YouTube. I don't understand. Please help?

The video path is longer (in software) than the audio path and evidently the adapter you bought doesn't have a delay line in the audio path to make up for that.
