Google Play Music Cannot Communicate With Google Servers - Why?

Hey everyone,

I'm quite a novice round here so please be easy on me, haha.

I've recently got a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and have wanted to download some music onto it.

However, I've run into a lot of problems with this (partly because I don't think I really understand how this app works).

I went on Play Store and bought a song I wanted and I always assumed this song would be downloaded locally onto my device so I could just go on my "Music Player" and play it - however the song isn't there.

So then I went onto "Google Play Music" to see if I could find it there but I cannot login on it. Every time I try and connect my account I get this:

"Couldn't sign in

There was a problem communicating with Google servers

Try again later"

So then I went to the online music player and my song was on there but then when I tried to download it I get an error message saying "You do not have permission to access this URL" with some horrendously long code and the Google logo.

In short, I basically want to get this song (and any future songs) onto my device locally so I can play them offline through my Music Player and I am pretty sure if I could fix the login issue above, I can do this, right?

I'm relatively short for time so if we could start with the simpler solutions (if there are any) that'd be nice, would like to avoid factory reset and all that as much as humanely possible. I have, of course, already tried resetting the phone, turning it off and on, changing data connections/wifi connections etc. and still no joy.

Anyone know how I can get my account to work or why this is happening?

If this problem cannot be fixed, anyone know how else I can get some music onto it?

Welcome to Android Central! Do all of your other Google apps work correctly, like Gmail, Google Drive, etc.? Have you been able to successfully purchase and install apps on the Google Play Store?

You may want to go to the Google Wallet site (google.com/wallet) and make sure you have a valid credit card associated with your account.

One option is to go to Settings>Accounts-Google, and remove your Google account completely. Then add it back again, and see if it works now.
