How do I get his unknown notification icon to go away?-screenshot_2014-12-27-15-32-37-2.png
New here, might be a simple question. I can't figure out what this icon is for, it is there and on the pull down menu there is nothing but the weather for the other notification.
Please help me find out what app it is so I can at least uninstall it.
I am new to this phone (Nexus 5) so I installed a bunch of apps and don't really want to uninstall them all to troubleshoot this icon.

Welcome to Android Central! It might just be a notification to let you know one of the apps you installed is active. Judging by the appearance, it could be related to the weather app, although it would seem redundant to have both the actual weather report in an icon, and then a separate icon telling you that the app is active. What's the name of the weather app?

Pull the notification down and see if that icon is on one of the notifications. If it is, long-press that notification and it'll tell you what app is creating that notification. (It looks something like a raindrop, meaning that the weather app is forecasting rain, but the temperature seems to be saying partly cloudy. Are you running 2 weather apps?)

I tried a bunch of weather ones but only left weather underground which is where I end up after a long press. Tried forcing it off and it only got rid of the other icon. The only other weather I see is the one on google play and the one that accesses from HD widgets.

Go to settings and then apps. Swipe left to ur running apps and check which one is causing the notif.

Try disabling outlook or hd widgets or kindle cause I have the others and none of them cause that notification on mine

Thanks a lot, turns out its the powerful controls toggle bar on the notification pull down. I used to see that as default on my S2 so I didn't think anything of it.

    Sorry for wasting your time.

Not at all. This could be helpful for other members as well. We certainly had difficulty finding that icon on Google search ...

Anything difficult finding is a great help here once it's found. Don't apologize - we consider this a service you did for anyone seeing that icon and wanting to get rid of it.
