How do idisconnect from aWi-Fi network?

Android 4.4.3 HTC One. I make an effort to stay updated.

I knew how to disconnect from a Wi-Fi network prior to this update, but after this update, the phone connects to a previously remembered Wi-Fi network without actually saying it has connected in the Wi-Fi settings. When I click the offending network with the intentions of disconnecting, my only options are to connect. If I connect and disconnect or forget network, it still reconnects without indicating so in the Wi-Fi settings.

The only way I can disconnect from any Wi-Fi network is to connect to another Wi-Fi network or turn Wi-Fi off completely. I'm close to reverting back to a better update. (One that maybe puts a space after a's and I's when using swipe).

Go to Wifi, press the Menu button, press Advanced. Look for autoconnect settings. (In an AT&T phone, you can have it autoconnect to any AT&T hotsspot.) Turn off any autoconnect settings.
