Why aren't my emails are coming through and are delayed for an extended period of time?

my emails are not coming thru and or delayed for an extended period of time.

My galaxy s5 is not receivng emails. I followed the sync steps and the emails were released immediately afterwards. But after the i get the back log of emails, the same thing happens. I am not receiving the emails unless I go back and sync again.
